Surgical Applications Overview
Naturally Occurring Bio-scaffold Derived from Porcine Tissue
ACell Vet has developed a proprietary line of veterinary surgical devices utilizing an advanced regenerative medicine technology. ACell Vet’s technology is a naturally occurring bio-scaffold derived from porcine tissue.
When the ACell Vet product is placed into a surgical site or wound, it typically is resorbed and replaced with new native tissue where scar tissue would normally be expected.
Wide Variety of Healing Applications
The ACell Vet products have been used in a wide variety of healing applications including:
- Surgical Wound Closure & Management
- Body Wall and Other Soft Tissue Repair
- Gastrointestinal Surgery
- Urogenital Procedures
- Oncologic Surgery
- Transplants
- Reconstructive Procedures
- Excisions
Constructive Remodeling of Damaged Tissues
The ACell Vet product promotes healing by encouraging new blood vessel formation and causing constructive remodeling of damaged tissues. When applied at the site of injury or surgery, host cells attach to it, grow into it, degrade it, and replace it with tissues that are site appropriate. ACell Vet technology provides the following benefits:
- Porcine epithelial basement membrane promotes rapid remodeling.
- Several collagen types, multiple growth factors and essential proteins support natural healing.
- Effectively remodel and restore surgical site to normal state and function.
The ACell Vet product is completely resorbable. During the process of tissue reconstruction, the ACell Vet product is gradually degraded and absorbed by the body and is replaced by host generated tissue. This reduces the possibility of a chronic inflammatory response by the host against a permanently implanted foreign material.
