Corneal Problems

Causes and Symptoms

Cornea problems can be caused by injuries, genetic deformities, inherited diseases and complication from other medical conditions. Symptoms include blepharospasm, epiphora, photosensitivity, an overall reluctance to move, bumping suddenly into objects and anisocoria.

Cornea problems are often extremely painful and animals with any kind of injury or genetic condition of the cornea always run the risk of going blind in that eye.

ACell Vet Corneal Discs

ACell Vet Corneal Discs offer a revolutionary new treatment for cornea problems. Conveniently sized at 15mm, the discs have an integral marker tab to help ensure the material is placed with the basement membrane side out.

The discs may be secured by suturing directly to the cornea, with tack sutures to the bulbar conjunctiva, via tarsorrhaphy, or nictitating membrane flap. Each ACell Vet Corneal Disc is individually packaged sterile.

Constructive Remodeling of the Cornea

Once hydrated and secured, the ACell Vet Corneal Disc is quickly incorporated with the native tissue to support constructive remodeling of the affected area by host derived cells. The ACell Vet material is totally resorbed by the body, as remodeling occurs, leaving no permanently implanted material behind.

ACell Vet devices may provide a cost effective and convenient treatment option for even the toughest cornea problems.
